Jerk Barbecued Ribs

This Barbecued Jerk Ribs recipe is a savory, flavorful take on traditional southern-style BBQ. These ribs are slathered in a jerk marinade that consists of thyme, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, and jalapeno and then placed on the grill for cooking.

Ingredients

  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 4 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Jamaican allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 habanero 
  • 1 jalapeno 
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce or liquid aminos
  • 3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil
  • kosher salt and ground black pepper, to taste
  • 4 pounds pork spare ribs

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and process until smooth. 

Coat ribs in marinade mixture on both sides and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours up to overnight.

Remove ribs from fridge and let sit until meat comes to room temperature.

Preheat gas grill to 300 F. Place ribs on grill and cook for 1 1/2 hours, until the ribs bends when you pick them up and the internal temperature reaches 200 F.
