This is the best BBQ pulled pork slow cooker recipe! It’s full of flavor and easy to make. It’s a lot like our slow cooker pulled chicken sandwich recipe, but made with pork instead.

This version is saucy, sweet, and smoky. It’s a nice switch up from the classic smoked pulled pork recipe, which is served without sauce.

The Memphis BBQ sauce is a homemade recipe, and keeps the meat moist. Our soul food seasoning and BBQ rub bring that flavor we all love.

Ingredients

BBQ pulled pork slow cooker ingredients (bbq sauce, onion, boneless pork shoulder, bbq seasoning, soul food seasoning)
  • Pork Shoulder: We used boneless pork shoulder that was cut in half (that’s how it was sold at our local store). It actually worked out perfectly, since the smaller pieces fit better in the slow cooker and cooked more evenly.
  • Seasonings: We seasoned the pork with our Soul Food Seasoning and BBQ rub. Feel free to use your favorite all-purpose and BBQ rubs if you have them on hand.
  • BBQ Sauce: We used our homemade Memphis Style BBQ Sauce, but your favorite store-bought or homemade sauce will work just fine. Use more or less depending on how saucy you like your pulled pork.

Yes! Store cooled pulled pork in freezer-safe containers or bags for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat on the stovetop or in a slow cooker.

Cut it in half! It fits better, cooks more evenly, and is easier to shred once tender.
