Spooning burger sauce onto vegan burger

This recipe is exactly what you think it is: burger sauce is a sauce for putting on burgers (and Veggie Burgers). But friends, it is so much more than that! You can use it for dipping ALL the things, from Sweet Potato Fries to onion rings and more. It’s creamy, sweet, tangy, and savoury. I know you’re going to love it as much as I do!

Why You Need to Make This Burger Sauce ASAP

Here’s why I love this recipe and why I think you will too!

  • 5 minutes to make. This burger sauce requires ingredients you probably have already and to make it, you just stir them all together. Easy!
  • Versatile. Once you’ve got a jar of this burger sauce in the fridge, you’ll discover endless ways to put it to use.
  • Customisable. Adjust the ingredient ratios to tweak the flavour, add a pinch of cayenne for heat, and don’t be afraid to make this recipe your own!

Notes on Ingredients

Here’s a quick breakdown of the ingredients you’ll need to make this easy vegan burger sauce. Scroll down to the recipe card to find the ingredient quantities and recipe instructions.

  • Vegan mayonnaise – I love using my homemade Vegan Mayo, but store-bought is fine too.
  • Ketchup – I like to use one that’s made without high fructose corn syrup.
  • Yellow mustard – For extra tanginess! You can swap in a stronger mustard if you’d like.
  • Sweet pickle relish – If you’re not a relish fan, you can use finely chopped pickles.
  • White vinegar – Apple cider vinegar is a good substitute if you don’t have white vinegar on hand.
  • Seasonings – Garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

How to Make Vegan Burger Sauce

As promised, it’s ridiculously easy! Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  • Mix ingredients. Whisk the mayo, ketchup, mustard, relish, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika in a bowl.
  • Season. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Chill or use. Refrigerate for 15–30 minutes to bring the flavours together, or use the burger sauce immediately.
