With a relatively dead weekend in between the two high school scholastic live periods, I decided to make the journey from Minneapolis to Dallas for the loaded GASO Pre-Live Showcase. Offering teams from every single shoe circuit, the event was an easy scouting event under one roof at the Ryse StarCenter in Farmers Branch, Texas.

Houston Hoops (EYBL), Team Nation (New Balance P32), 3D Empire (Puma Pro 16), Rashard Lewis Academy (New Balance P32), Pro Skills (EYBL), AB Elite (EYBL), and Southern Assault (Adidas 3SSB) all brought squads from various age groups to not only compete against each other, but against some of the top independent teams that DFW has to offer.
Having already covered the notables from day two and then the standouts from the final day of the GASO Pre-Live Showcase, we started diving deeper into some of the individual players who helped themselves right before the live period. Star power resided in the loaded 2027 group, and there were a number of 2028 sleepers, but there were a number of other prospects who will be playing big-time college basketball who are still floating under the radar.
Here are six names who boosted themselves with their play at GASO:

PF Tyson Chandler II, 6’9, Southern Assault 17U, 2027
Without a roster initially, I saw Chandler and immediately thought ‘that guy really has a chance,” not knowing that I was looking at the son of former No 2 pick, high school legend, and NBA champ Tyson Chandler. The younger Chandler is a super long forward who utilizes his length on both ends, is comfortable shooting the ball from the perimeter, and made a number of heady flashes to mid-range for jumpers. Given the fact that his father kept growing beyond his 18th birthday (reportedly reaching 7’2 by the time he was done growing in the league), the versatile forward is just scratching the surface of where he could ultimately be as a player.

SF Isaiah Santos, 6’5, AB Elite 17U, 2027
The definition of a power wing, Isaiah Santos did a bit of everything for AB Elite throughout their undefeated weekend at GASO. He was incredibly crafty getting to the lane with his deceptive change of speed, proved that he could make plays for others, and wasn’t afraid to mix it up in the paint on both ends. The Brazilian wing may not fit a particular mold, but will bring winning intangibles to whatever program he lands at collegiately.

SG/SF Elijah Paez, 6’5, Drive Nation 17U, 2027
Paez immediately stood out with his ability to impact the game without having many plays ran for him. The swingman was an elite finisher in transition, defended all three perimeter spots, and was tough to stop going downhill. Playing for reigning Overtime Elite champion Dynamic Prep alongside Marcus Spears Jr. next season, Paez will have no shortage of opportunities to shine on the national level.

PF/C Steven McLeod, 6’9, AB Elite 17U, 2027
A big man who is far from reaching his potential, McLeod has all of the tools that you look for. He made plays on both ends with his length, was agile enough to get out and defend on the perimeter, and played through contact on both ends of the ball. The Grand Prairie senior already holds mid-major offers and as he expands offensively, could potentially reach the high major level.

PF/C Dane Wolff, 6’8, RTX Hoops 17U, 2027
I loved what Wolff brought to the table for a gritty RTX squad. The long armed big played with a motor, really ran the floor well, and converted at the rim with both hands. Wolff’s willingness to accept a role, set great screens, and let the game come to him will make him a great fit wherever he lands at the collegiate level.
#TheNextWave4 RECAP: @FFA_Athletics post ANTHONY SPENCER III is another dude with a huge upside! Tries to break the rim religiously on dunk attempts kinda how I slam the mic 2 make sure it’s broke! Yeah that’s him! Shot blocker, tuf inside! #DaREALtalkNation @TheTB5Reports pic.twitter.com/dA0rBliqwU

PF/C Anthony Spencer III, 6’8, Drive Nation 17U, 2026
An unsigned senior, Spencer ran with Drive Nation at GASO and showed how he could thrive in his role. The super athletic big changed the game with his long arms, ridiculous high motor, and South Dallas toughness in the paint. Still left on the board, Spencer is going to make a college coach very happy next year with his no nonsense style of play.
