A traffic stop in Las Vegas has sparked questions online after video appeared to show several officers forcefully removing a Black man from his vehicle while a passenger recorded the encounter, including the man’s repeated pleas for help and references to his infant child inside the car.
The incident happened Aug. 23 near Wynn Road and West Flamingo Road, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, which confirmed the location and date to Atlanta Black Star. Police also confirmed an arrest but declined to provide additional details about the incident.
The video begins with the officer ordering the man out of the vehicle. As the man asks why he is being removed, the officer repeatedly tells him, “Get out of the vehicle.” The man responds, “Why are you doing this?”
The footage does not show the officer explaining what the man was being arrested for before the physical confrontation escalates. Officers can be seen pulling the man from the vehicle and taking him to the ground. At one point, an officer holds him down with a knee while the man repeatedly cries out and asks to speak with a supervisor.
As officers restrain him, the man warns that his arm is being injured.
“If you break my wrist, you’re gonna lose your job,” he says before pleading, “I can’t feel my arm. Somebody help me.”
He also tries to alert officers to someone else inside the vehicle.
“Sir, my son is in the car!” he yells.
More officers eventually arrive, with the video showing as many as six officers surrounding or restraining the man. The passenger gets out and continues recording the encounter from another angle.
The passenger repeatedly tells officers a newborn is inside the vehicle and asks them to check on the baby.
“There’s a child in the car. Not even two months. Can you at least make sure they check on the baby? We don’t want no heat exhaustion or anything,” the passenger says.
Later, the passenger tells officers that the baby’s mother is coming to pick up the child.
As the arrest continues, the passenger expresses disbelief over how quickly the traffic stop has escalated.
“He’s tripping. They [LVMPD] beating him down now. They beating him up right now. They tying his feet up now, they doing hella s—t,” the passenger says.
The video shows officers binding the man’s feet and placing a spit hood over his head. The passenger continues questioning the severity of the response.
“It was a simple pull over. This s—t is bewildering to me. The thing about it is his baby is in the car.”
Officers eventually carry the man toward a police vehicle as he continues yelling that they are injuring his arm.
“My arm is breaking,” he says.
The passenger responds, “This don’t make no sense.” By the end of the footage, the child appears to have been in the process of being picked up by the child’s mother.
The video does not establish what led officers to arrest the man or what happened before the recording began. It also does not provide enough information to determine what led to the arrest beyond what the footage shows and captures.
Atlanta Black Star contacted LVMPD for information about the incident. The department confirmed that the video shows “a vehicle stop that occurred on August 23, 2026, near Wynn Road and West Flamingo Road.” Police also confirmed they made an arrest.
LVMPD’s Office of Public Information declined to provide a statement. Atlanta Black Star also requested the incident crime report and arrest report to obtain more information about the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
The department denied access to those records, saying an open investigation or criminal proceedings involve them.
“The records you seek are law enforcement records that pertain to an open criminal investigation and/or criminal proceedings,” LVMPD said. The department added that law enforcement’s interest in withholding the documents currently outweighs the public’s presumed interest in obtaining them.
Without the police reports or a statement from the department, questions remain about what prompted the arrest, what charges the man faces, and what occurred before the passenger began recording.
Atlanta Black Star also reached out to the man in the video for comment.
