When the Ballislife team announced the initial details of our upcoming Redemption PPV earlier this week, we mentioned that there was one more big time matchup on the card that was still yet to be revealed (matchups, times below). A lot of former NBA players have talked a big game about the 1v1 scene and even more have showed it respect, but not many have stepped into the ring to put their reputation on the line.
Josh Jackson, welcome to Redemption.
Having been the consensus No. 1 overall recruit in the Class of 2016, a top-five pick in the 2017 NBA Draft and a member of the 2018 NBA All-Rookie second team, Jackson is arguably the most accomplished former pro to enter the space. The 6’8 wing is an immediate contender to completely take over the “big man” category in the 1v1 universe, with elite athleticism and a scoring ability from all three levels that’s simply a problem.
Jackson’s journey to Redemption in Detroit is a full circle one. He first made a name for himself as a young high school star at Consortium College Prep in the city before moving on to Prolific Prep (then in Napa, Calif.), where he became one of the biggest high school stars of the Ballislife mixtape era. His high school mixtape has over 1.8 million views! Jackson also had an NBA stint in Detroit with the Pistons, where he averaged a career high 13.4 points per game in 2020-21.
His first test is no small task, either. Cam “Beno” Smith is a 6’7 scoring machine who had a breakout rookie season for the Big 3’s Detroit Amps in 2025 after spending some time in the G-League. Beno spent 2026 continuing to establish himself as one of the leading names in the 1v1 space, winning three out of his four matchups in 2026 after earning wins over Frank Nitty, Fomby, and Dvontay Friga in 2025.
Simply put, this is a matchup that can shake up the entire sport of 1v1. Will September 26 mark the start of Josh Jackson’s Ballislife takeover? Or will Beno keep proving that he’s a premier talent in the 1 v 1 scene? The only way to find out is by tuning into Redemption on Ballislife’s YouTube Channel, or better yet, by attending the event at Detroit’s Renaissance High School.

1v1 Event Rules
Each game is played to 30 points, scored through 2-pointers and 3-pointers. Expect physicality so that players will get plenty of trips to the charity stripe. Speaking of that, if a player gets fouled while shooting, they get one free throw. If the free throw is missed, possession goes to the other player. Possessions end on a shot attempt (make or miss), turnover, free throw, attempt, or jump ball, which results in a change of possession.
Halftime occurs when 15 points are reached, and each player gets two time-outs. The first player to reach 30 points wins.
Thirty points can come quickly, or it can become a battle of attrition! With a four-dribble limit, every move counts, and even slight mistakes can cost the game!
Now that you’ve got the basic rundown of the event and how to sign up for it, let’s dive a little bit more into some of these matchups.
REDEMPTION Matchup Previews and Storylines
The Main Event
The main event pits Nasir “The Blueprint” Core and his historic winning streak against another daunting task in former NBA player Jonathon Simmons, who is the latest pro hooper to challenge Nas’ evergreen belief that he, and not any former or current NBA player, is the greatest 1v1 talent planet. Simmons most notably had stints with the San Antonio Spurs and Orlando Magic in the 2010s, but the biggest reason to believe he can be the one to knock off Nas is what he’s done on a streetball court.
In Sims’ lone recorded high-level 1v1 matchup, he put together a 30-22 victory against Ballislife legend Uncle Skoob that put the entire scene on notice. In Nas’ case, it’s yet another opportunity to prove that “levels” is just a word and results are what really matters. To put it simply, a lot of conversations are either going to gain momentum or be put to bed entirely by the outcome of this matchup.
Other REDEMPTION Matchups
Speaking of Skoob, he’s set to complete a trilogy in his third chapter against Rob Colon at Redemption. He’s won five in a row and hasn’t lost since an April setback against Sims, beating household names like Keyon Menifield, Darius “DA” Adams, and Jerome Randle. Skoob was especially impressive in his win over Menifield at All In, making 12-of-22 attempts overall and 5-of-11 from 3-point range.
He’ll need to be every bit as impressive against Rob, because we’ve seen what can happen between these two when Rob gets loose. One of Rob’s breakout performances in the space was his 15-0 shutout of Skoob in their first meeting at Frigmas in December 2023. Skoob’s valiant response in a 31-21 win in the rematch sets the stage for this highly anticipated grudge match, but this is one that could truly go either way.
One of the most sought after matchups on the card features Flint native Keyon Menifield against Tray Croft, which is one of the rare 1v1s you’ll see between two guys who are both not only former pros, but respected in the YouTube space as well. Croft is looking for a statement after his 30-13 shortcoming against Mike Harden at All In, while Keyon is looking to prove that his near-comeback against Skoob later that night was legitimate.
Beyond that, other matchups on the card include Latin “Lat’ Davis vs. Scar and Reese vs. Darius “DA” Adams.
