In 2024, Clark partnered with Nike. Since then, she’s primarily worn Kobe Protros, including exclusive Kobe 5 and Kobe 6 colorways. Earlier this month, Clark sported a Taylor Swift-inspired “Eras Tour” edition. She teased her signature shoe for weeks by changing her Instagram handle to “caitlin1” and posting profile pictures featuring a “CC” pattern representing her initials and a “22” to reflect her jersey number. Last year, Clark revealed that her shoe would incorporate Nike technology that hadn’t been used in basketball models before.

Clark explained that her design focused on three main aspects from her game: speed, range, and unpredictability. Nike created a new upper named Opticast, made from molded polyurethane nodes positioned at different heights to minimize drag and boost mobility, drawing inspiration from the ripple effect of the 3-point arc. The shoe includes a Cushlon midsole combined with an articulated forefoot Air Zoom Turbo unit placed nearer to the foot to deliver faster response and better court feedback.

“Having my own shoe has been a dream for as long as I can remember, and seeing it come to life is pretty incredible,” said Clark in a press release. “I wanted it to reflect how I play—fast, confident, and ready to let it fly.”

Behind the Design of Caitlin Clark 1

Clark’s detailing includes stacked Swooshes that suggest her initials. The Opticast nodes form “C” shapes on the outer side and “2” shapes on the inner side. The graphics on the underfoot display messages such as “Shoot More Threes” and “It was never a long shot.”

The initial release, “Racer Blue,” kicks off the launch. It features a primarily blue upper with a metallic silver Swoosh on the outside, a tan Swoosh on the inside, and a gum rubber patch at the heel. Clark has shared glimpses of other versions on Instagram, including a blacked-out model worn by Nike signee Travis Scott and a green “Grinch”-style pair. A Christmas-themed colorway has also been suggested.

“Nike and I really crushed it. It was a true partnership. They listened to every detail, and the innovation is designed for my game. Seeing the finished product for the first time will forever be a core memory.”

“What excites me most is what this can mean for the next generation. If it inspires even one kid to work harder or fall in love with the game, that’s what makes it special. This is so much more than a shoe—it’s about helping grow the game.”

How and Where to Purchase

An 18-piece apparel collection launches with the shoe, Nike’s first Standard Issue line for women. It includes jackets, hoodies, tees, and basics made with AeroFit, Dri-FIT, and Bouncy Fleece, all in a cement-inspired print that nods to Clark’s roots.

The Caitlin 1 will be sold at Nike.com and select Nike retailers worldwide. It retails for $140 in North America and $135 in the rest of the world, with grade-school sizes at $115 and preschool at $105.

Clark previewed the Tuesday date in an arrival video at Gainbridge Fieldhouse before the Fever beat the Toronto Tempo 113-92, their fourth straight win. “Mark your calendars,” she said. She has not decided when she will debut the shoe in a game.

Now in her third WNBA season, Clark is averaging 20.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 8.3 assists through 13 games, while ranking fourth in the league in scoring. This week, Clark is the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 250+ points and 100+ assists in a single season. Additionally, Clark was named the WNBA’s Player of the Week for games played through June 16. The 24-year-old, named 2024 Rookie of the Year and a two-time All-Star, is also set to release a children’s book in November.
