Our staff was evaluating this weekend at various June Scholastic Live period events, including the TABC Boys Showcase in Dallas. TABC is a huge event and on Friday we had a chance to break down some terrific prospects in a scholastic setting. We came back on Saturday and saw plenty more action.
Below is what went down on day two of TABC.
Kaiden Eason…. Whew
Kaiden Eason continues to prove he’s one of the more impactful under-the-radar prospects in Texas. The 6-foot-5 2027 (senior) wing doesn’t need plays called for him to influence the game, consistently making his presence felt through his activity, athleticism, and motor. He flies end-to-end in transition, fills lanes hard, and is an explosive play finisher who thrives above the rim. What stands out even more is that his skill foundation is better than many realize. Eason has shown flashes of handling the ball, making the extra pass, and attacking closeouts under control. As his offensive game continues to expand, his combination of size, athleticism, and winning intangibles gives him tremendous long-term upside at the next level.
Houston Christian Dynamic Duo
Josiah McGowan continues to elevate his stock every time he takes the floor. The shifty 6-foot-2 2027 lead guard is a confident shot-maker who thrives creating offense off the bounce. He changes speeds well, gets defenders off balance, and has the ability to rise into pull-up jumpers with little separation. His combination of shot creation and playmaking should lead to an uptick in Division I recruitment as more coaches see him operate with the ball in his hands.

Landon Veal, meanwhile, is easy to understand why high-major programs continue to prioritize. The 6-foot-8 forward is an explosive athlete who plays well above the rim, runs the floor effortlessly, and brings outstanding physical tools to the frontcourt. What separates him from many athletic forwards is his developing skill foundation. Veal is comfortable facing up, handling the ball in space, and shows encouraging touch around the basket. With his length, mobility, and expanding offensive package, he possesses the long-term upside that high-end Division I programs covet.
Dynamic Prep Reloaded for 2026-27
Dynamic Prep looks reloaded for the 2026-27 season after putting together two convincing victories on Saturday. The talent, depth, and versatility on the roster were evident from start to finish, and they look like one of the early favorites to compete at Chipotle Nationals.
Marcus Spears Jr. continued to strengthen his case as the No. 1 player in Texas’ 2027 class. The versatile forward impacted winning in every phase, scoring efficiently, rebounding, defending multiple positions, and making big time athletic plays.
2028 standout Benji Berrouet was a physical problem all day. At 6-foot-7 with a powerful frame, he punished defenses operating in the short roll, consistently getting downhill and finishing through contact. His combination of strength, balance, and touch around the basket makes him incredibly difficult to contain once he catches the ball on the move.
Keep an eye on Howard Williams, who has all the tools to break out this season. The 6-foot-6 wing possesses a next-level frame, moves exceptionally well, and flashes the versatility to score, defend, and impact the game in multiple ways.
Another player who stood out was Blaze Johnson, a 6-foot-5 guard with a polished offensive package. Johnson is a true three-level scorer who can knock down perimeter shots, create off the bounce, and finish at the rim. His combination of positional size and shot-making ability gives Dynamic Prep yet another weapon heading into the 2026-27 season.

Allen: True 2026-27 UIL Class 6A Contender
Allen has all the ingredients to make a legitimate run at the 6A UIL State Championship in 2026-27. While star power often grabs the headlines, it’s the Eagles’ depth, versatility, and balance that separate them from many of the state’s contenders.
Leading the way is rising senior Cadarian Urune, an aggressive downhill guard whose athleticism allows him to consistently pressure the paint. His ability to defend, attack the rim, and create energy on both ends makes him the heartbeat of Allen’s backcourt.
The front court is equally impressive with Tyson Chandler Jr., a face-up forward who has developed into a legitimate perimeter shooting threat. His ability to stretch defenses creates valuable spacing, while Giovanni Watts brings a rugged, high-motor presence inside. Watts embraces the physical side of the game, rebounds, defends, and consistently makes winning plays without needing touches called for him.
On the wing, Dylan Matlock-Reed provides size, strength, and versatility. The powerfully built southpaw is a better shooter than he showed on Saturday and has the tools to impact games as both a scorer and defender.
Allen’s future is bright as well. 2029 guard Ayden McClinton plays with tremendous confidence, hunting his own offense while showing the ability to score from multiple levels. Meanwhile, 2030 Damien Urune more than held his own against older competition, displaying poise, toughness, and instincts beyond his years.
When you combine Allen’s experienced upperclassmen with talented young contributors, the Eagles possess the depth, physicality, and versatility needed to navigate the grind of the 6A playoffs. If this group continues to develop chemistry and embraces its defensive identity, Allen has every reason to believe it can be playing for a state championship in March.
Isaiah Santos Dominated
Isaiah Santos of Seven Lakes was one of the three most impressive performers at the TABC Showcase, establishing himself as one of the premier wings in attendance. Powerfully built with a college-ready frame, Santos played with an endless motor that separated him from the field. He consistently made winning plays on both ends, attacking the glass, defending multiple positions, and playing through contact with physicality and toughness. At times, he looked like a man amongst boys, overwhelming opponents with his strength, relentless effort, and competitive edge.
Offensively, Santos finished through traffic, ran the floor hard in transition, and capitalized on opportunities without forcing the action. Defensively, he embraced difficult matchups while bringing consistent energy every possession. His combination of size, athleticism, and high-level intensity made him one of the most impactful players in the gym.

Aaron Mathis, 2028 6’0 PG – Lake Travis: Showed outstanding footwork attacking off the dribble and a high feel for the game, consistently making the right reads. A constant threat to get into the paint and create offense, he turned in one of the weekend’s most eye-catching performances against Prestonwood and significantly boosted his stock.
Ebube Joseph, 2027 6’5 Forward – Grand Oaks: He consistently plays much bigger than his height. He uses his powerful frame to establish deep position, carve out space on the glass, and overwhelm opposing front court players with his physicality. His toughness, strength, and relentless motor allows him to make an impact on the court.

Josiah Jones, 2027 6’2 PG – San Antonio Harlan: Talented scoring guard prospect that doesn’t have elite burst but very crafty and a tough one on one scorer. Multiple big time scoring outings.
