‘Get Your Worker’: Black Woman Says White Supermarket Employee Harassed Her Over Shopping Cart, Then Police Made Matters Worse

A wild shopping-cart tug-of-war broke out between a supermarket employee and a woman, triggering a call to the police.

Startling video shows the grocery store employee wearing an ID tag labeled “Chad” blocking the path of a Black woman who goes by Miss Alise on social media.

Chad, who is white, grabbed one end of the cart and refused to let go, aggressively tossing it around while Miss Alise’s small dog was inside.

The standoff played out in a large shopping plaza, in the parking lot of Giant Eagle in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

‘Why Can’t People Leave Black People Alone?’

In the caption of her July 16 video, Miss Alise said it all started because the “cart was too far away from the store,” but many TikTok commenters believe something more nefarious was going on: racial profiling.

“He would never do that to a man,” wrote one, immediately followed by “or a white woman.”

Another person asked, “Why can’t people leave Black people alone?” a question which got nearly 27,000 likes.

In the video’s caption, she claimed the employee trailed her through the parking lot and harassed her for a full 30 minutes before she finally called the police. What happened when police arrived was even stranger.

@kyaalise_ this cart patrol man chad or whatever tf he is followed me to get this cart because he thought we were trying to steal the cart while shopping in a plaza. mind you i have a CAR😃 he did this for 30 minutes while my dog was inside. #fyp #karen #harrassmentawareness ♬ Saxophones getting louder – Sped Up – AntonioVivald

Though the man appeared to be the aggressor according to the videos, he was the one to yell, “Help! I’m being assaulted by two girls,” at the first sight of police.

You Should Understand Why He Did That

Miss Alise explained in her caption that they involved law enforcement “because we already knew the card he was going to pull,” adding, “I never touched him. I actually wish my dog was aggressive in this moment, but my baby was scared.”

@kyaalise_ part 2, we ended up just calling the police because we already KNEW the card he was gonna pull😂 i never touched him i actually wish my dog was agresssive in this moment but my baby was scared. #karen #racism #harrassmentawareness ♬ original sound – miss alise 💋

The last clip in the three-part series showed a second employee approaching Chad while he was dragging the cart, with the pup inside.

“I don’t need your help to go to my car,” Miss Alise yelled at him, and then turned to the second employee, “Get your f—ing worker! Get your worker, ma’am.”

@kyaalise_

i offered to return the cart back to the store a million times but for some odd reason he wanted to be my chaperone. there is no update the police came & stated that i should understand why he did this because the cart was too far away from the store vs the other store we were headed too. this man also still works there no story time needed😃

In the end, no official complaints were filed or arrests made.

According to Miss Alise, the police told her she “should understand why he did that,” given how far the cart was from the store.

However, they were still in the plaza’s parking lot. She also noted that the man still works at the store. Giant Eagle has not commented on the incident.
