The surveillance clip that has BloodHound Q50’s name trending lasts barely half a minute, and by now millions of people have watched it.
The 22-year-old Chicago rapper is seen walking out of a South Side convenience store just before 4 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13.
With a phone in hand, he heads back towards his white Tesla as he crosses the lot. He gets into the parked vehicle at the pump. He never drives away.
What happened in the seconds that followed has currently turned a Fuller Park gas station into the most dissected 30 seconds on the internet.
Not to mention, it has left another Black mother doing the thing no mother should have to do, which is defend her dead child on social media.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the rapper as Mikquale Cooper, known to hundreds of thousands of drill listeners as BloodHound Q50.
The rapper was sitting in the driver’s seat of a 2019 Tesla outside a BP station in the 4200 block of South Wentworth Avenue when two cars pulled alongside him, according to Chicago outlet ABC7.
According to a preliminary police account, six gunmen climbed out of a black Acura sedan and a silver Honda Accord and opened fire. Four wore all black. One wore a green hoodie, another wore a black one. Immediately after the shooting, they got back in the vehicle and fled south onto the Dan Ryan.
More than 50 rounds were reportedly fired. Cooper was struck in the chest and shoulder and pronounced dead at the scene.
The windows of a neighboring Subway were also shot out. A gun was later recovered from Cooper, law enforcement sources confirmed. No one is currently in custody, and police have not named a suspect or a motive yet.
Cooper had just turned 22 on Aug. 6.
He marked it by releasing a project called “Get Back or Die Trying,” which featured his late cousin, Bloodhound Lil Jeff, who was killed in 2024. He had survived a shooting once already, last August, and rapped about it afterward.
Then, while strangers were still arguing over the footage, his mother spoke.
Machetta Dudley recently addressed reports about a GoFundMe account that was created in her name on behalf of her son.
She wanted the world to know, “I DID NOT CREATE NO GOFUND ME… DON’T SEND NO MONEY THAT’S NOT MY PROFILE.. MY BABY STRAIGHT EVERYTHING TAKEN CARE OF.. DON’T LET THAT PAGE SCAM Y’ALL.. THEY USED MY NAME AND MY TWIN PICTURE.”
Days later she shared what appears to be a screenshot from the page. She also added that a TikTok page was spreading the same narrative.
“THIS IS NOT ME.. DON’T DONATE ..I DON’T NEED NO MONEY AT ALL…. REPORT THIS PAGE.. THEM TIKTOK PAGES FAKE I DON’T EVEN HAVE MY REAL NAME ON THERE
Dudley’s message read as a warning to be left alone and in response to everyone treating her son’s last moments as content.
“LET ME MAKE THIS MF CLEAR.. SOMEBODY MOMMA GONE BE CRYING LIKE ME,” the post read, before continuing that if they (believed to be the shooters) wanted to play, she would play back. “N—S FEARED MY SON,” she wrote on. “AND NOW YOU GONE HAVE TO FEAR HIS MOTHER.” She closed with the line that has stayed with people longest: “HE NOT HERE TO TELL ME DON’T DO THIS SOCIAL MEDIA.”
The post was later removed. By then it had already been screenshotted and posted on social media.
Online, the reaction has split between people mourning a 22-year-old and people pushing blame on Tesla. Under one X post, one user replied simply, “Tesla at a gas station?????” Another asked, “You think if he was in a cybertruck he would have stood a chance?”
Others focused on the delay before the shots. The brake lights, the door, and the seconds that never turned into an escape. “Damn buddy was about to pull off too smh,” one wrote. Another added, “Yea lets not own a tesla if we have opps he could’ve gotta away if the car didn’t have multiple steps to go into drive quick.”
At least one voice tried to pull the conversation back to the case itself. “The clearer footage may finally settle the rumors,” a user posted.
Another questioned why the rapper was driving a Tesla, a vehicle partly known for its lack of a traditional physical ignition.
Tesla has not commented on the shooting.
The killing lands in a city that keeps burying its hip-hop artists. Cooper’s death comes just four years after fellow rapper FBG Cash was killed in drive-by shooting in Chicago, and five years after the murder of KTS Dre. The then-31-year-old was shot 64 times right after leaving Cook County Jail.
Chicago police are still investigating.
