RecruitLook Minneapolis Showcase: Stock Risers

With so many “independent” circuits out there, it’s hard to decipher the real from the fake.  Many companies claim to be “circuits,” yet have no standings, statistics, or even reach with collegiate coaches, for that matter.  Enter RecruitLook, one of the elite independent AAU circuits in America.

Founder Mike Enright, Jarrell Strong, and the team have done an outstanding job of accumulating non-show sponsored programs that boast D-1 talent over the years. The non-live period weekends are when things really pop, though, as programs such as Meanstreets, Brad Beal Elite, Texas Impact 4:13, D1 Minnesota, Mac Irvin Fire, and others jumped in to get some good run against the best independent teams from their respective regions.

The same was the case here at the Minneapolis Showcase, as seen with the outstanding group of 2028 prospects that were assembled for some high-level hoops at Bloomington Kennedy High School.

Having examined the top overall performers from the RecruitLook Minneapolis Showcase, here are a few of the lesser-known players who left a lasting impression throughout the weekend:

Will Stremlow, 6’4, SG, Wisconsin Swing, 2027

Though his teammate Eli Krueger dominated the interior, Will Stremlow held it down on the perimeter for Wisconsin Swing throughout their undefeated weekend in Minneapolis. He was the model of productivity (averaged 23 points, six rebounds, and three assists), was a lights-out shooter from the 3-point line, and played the game at his own pace. Already holding nearly a dozen D-2 offers and a few at the D-1 level, Stremlow is a prime candidate to blow up as his senior campaign goes on.

Judah Mitchell, 6’0, PG, Phelps Falcons, 2028

While he typically runs with Hoop Habits on the Under Armour circuit, Judah Mitchell reminded everyone why he was one of the most productive sophomores in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. He puts pressure on the defense any time that he has the rock, is automatic with his ability to pull up at the drop of a dime, and brings a competitive nature to both sides of the floor. The younger brother of St. Thomas-bound lead guard JoJo Mitchell appears to be following in his brother’s footsteps as a D-1 prospect.

Zeke Gilbert, 6’5, SF/PF, D1 Minnesota, 2028

An absolute glue guy, Zeke Gilbert did a ton of things that didn’t show up in the box score for D1 Minnesota at the Minneapolis Showcase.  He won the battle on a ton of 50/50 balls, was a constant threat on the offensive glass, and utilized his athleticism to defend virtually every position on the floor.  As Gilbert continues to expand his offensive game, expect his recruitment as a glue guy to reach new heights.

Braun Meyer, 6’6, SF/PF, Wisconsin Swing, 2028

At the 16U level, there wasn’t a better inside-out threat at the Minneapolis Showcase than Braun Meyer.  The combo forward posted smaller defenders, showed his ability facing up from the perimeter, and controlled his area on the glass.  It was my first time seeing Meyer, but he is definitely a Midwest prospect that will be one to watch in the rising junior class.

Blake Bergstrom, 5’11, PG, The Pack, 2028

The glue that keeps the pieces together for The Pack, Blake Bergstrom, is the type of role player that every AAU team needs. A calming presence at point guard, Bergstrom is a lights-out shooter when playing off the ball, relocates to open areas, and uses his cerebral mindset to make countless heady plays. Also a quarterback on the gridiron, Blake will bring leadership to whichever program he ultimately chooses.
