Fantasia Barrino has a new addition to her family, and it came with a head-turning new look.
The “When I See U” singer recently revealed that she is now a dog mom of two after purchasing her second poodle.
She named the dog “Tinkerbell,” sharing photos and pictures that had fans doing a double take for other reasons.
Barrino had some fans scratching their heads after noticing something different about her appearance.
In the Sept. 29 post, the singer was seen snuggled up close to Tinker Bell.
She was mostly concealed in a multicolored jacket and black leggings, and her face was partially obscured by black shades.
In the caption of her post, Barrino revealed the dog was flown from Texas to Charlotte, North Carolina.
“She’s worth every penny, now we have Lola and Tinker Bell,” the singer added, revealing both dogs’ names.
Dallas-based breeder Fiona Grace Kennels is owned Jay Echols, who has 13 years of experience. On Echols’ page, he shared one video of Barrino meeting the dog, and in a separate clip, he asked her how she felt.
She responded, “Listen, I was nervous. But look, she’s not shaking, she knows that she’s safe. He breeds the best dogs. Period.”
But the comments barely mentioned the dog as Barrino’s fans were stuck on her new look, asking, “Who is that holding Fantasia’s puppy?”
Someone else reciting lines from the 1985 movie “The Color Purple” wrote, “Harpo who dis woman? Looks like a totally different person!”
Barrino portrayed the lead role of Celie in the 2023 musical remake of “The Color Purple.”
The role put her in one of the most iconic productions in Black entertainment. But some fans had another production in mind.
One fan nearly mistook the singer for “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Shamea Morton, writing, “Chile, I thought this was @shameamorton for a sec.”
The two ladies share a similar complexion, and both have been known to wear stunning pixie-style haircuts.
One supporter even suggested that she recently had cosmetic surgery on her face. “Just watch an old video of Tasia. She got a nose job, …. great work…look absolutely beautiful,” said one person.
Another person, clearly skeptical, added, “They Cloned FANTASIA and we need answers.”
Barrino seems to be paying the comments dust as she is living in bliss after purchasing Tinker Bell.
Fans rarely comment on how different the “Free Yourself” singer looks. But one recent photo sparked another unexpected comparison of how she looked before she introduced Tinker Bell.
In an August photo, she was posing backstage for her headlining performance at the Sky Soul festival. She wore a gold bodysuit decorated with metallic discs. To complete the look, she wore gold heels and a brown fur coat. Even then, people commented, “This doesn’t look like Fantasia.”
While her fans rushed to defend her, Barrino once again appeared unfazed by the comparison and kept the focus on her own beauty. However, she has not addressed the comments directly.
The “When I See U” singer has plenty keeping her busy as she looks ahead to 2027. Barrino will hit the road with Anthony Hamilton and October London for their “The Love of Soul” tour.
The upcoming run gives the singer another reason to focus on music, performances and the fans who continue to support her. The first tour stop is in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 5.
