Most Black parents understand the profound and lasting impact racism can have on their young children, particularly if left unchecked.
One Georgia family took matters into their own hands after their daughter revealed that classmates hurled racial slurs at her on the school bus.
Their daughter said one white child had repeatedly called her the N-word, and she had video evidence of the racial bullying. So, her parents paid a visit to the family to have a talk.
However, it didn’t go as planned. Instead of apologizing, the white mother — who had five children with her, one holding a baby — appeared “unbothered” and suggested they hash it out in the school’s principal’s office the next day.
“This ain’t the first time it’s happened,” the concerned father said. “We told her to defend herself.”
The white mother responded, “I told mine as well.”
A Sept. 9 Instagram Reel showed the derailed conversation, and many parents online are weighing in.
Several viewers praised the Black parents for confronting the situation head-on. “Y’all went about it the right way. Check ’em where it started,” wrote one.
But most said the lack of accountability disheartened them. Even as the family left the property, the white child used the slur again.
“The way the mom is unbothered, they said it and heard it and say it at home comfortably,” speculated one person on Atlanta Black Star’s official Instagram.
Another agreed. “Notice how she got defensive, never even asked her kids about using the N word!” one wrote. “Again, hatred is taught!”
The father, who goes by “93.records” online, told viewers he would provide an update.
The next day, his sister, who goes by “yoodas” online, tagged him in a post claiming the elementary school had brushed off the incident.
She claims a school official told the father that the community knows the family uses the word. She then says the official asked if he knew where he was living.
Commenters quickly launched a calling campaign, with one after another saying they contacted the principal on the family’s behalf, some from as far away as Houston, Texas.
“They gone hear from me every damn day!!” wrote one. As supporters wait for the next update, another commented, “We’ll ALL be in the principal’s office tomorrow.”
