‘Savage!’: Trump’s Obsession with JB Pritzker’s Weight Takes a New Twist as the Governor Turns the Joke Around on Him

Donald Trump has never needed much of an excuse to turn someone’s body into a punchline. For years, one Democrat in particular has absorbed rally jokes, Oval Office digs and even a holiday ceremony insult about his size.

But the target has changed shape, and so has the power dynamic. After quietly shedding 80 pounds, he’s no longer the one squirming when the subject comes up.

Trump, who recently made a rare admission about his own size, can’t exactly say the same.

So when a reporter asked him point-blank why the president keeps bringing him up, and whether it was really about firing up Trump’s base, he skipped the policy talk entirely.

He winced, paused, then broke into a grin and went straight for the scale.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker believes Trump’s fixation is personal. “I think he’s jealous of my weight loss,” Pritzker said after a reporter asked whether Trump’s frequent mentions were about him or about attacking Illinois to rev up his voters.

The clip spread quickly across social media on Oct. 29, and Pritzker made sure it kept moving. He shared it on X with a four-word caption: “Jealousy is a disease.” The line flips the script on years of Trump treating the governor’s waistline as campaign material.

The reporter’s question wasn’t a stretch. Trump has treated Illinois like a recurring villain, sending National Guard troops to the Chicago area in October 2025 and demanding on Truth Social in June, “Why isn’t Governor Pritzker calling me for help.”

He also re-endorsed Republican Darren Bailey, who is trying to block Pritzker’s bid for a historic third term, in an Oct. 22 post urging Illinois voters to back him, according to NBC Chicago.

Pritzker’s comeback only stings because of how long Trump has been dishing it out. At a 2024 campaign rally, Trump claimed the governor was “too busy eating.” In August 2025, he told reporters Pritzker “ought to spend more time at the gym,” prompting the governor to fire back that “it takes one to know one on the weight question.”

Then came the White House turkey pardon in November 2025, when Trump called Pritzker a “big, fat slob” while insisting, “I don’t talk about people being fat.” He ran the same bit at the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner in July. “I know I would never call anybody fat,” Trump told the room, before adding, “Don’t call him a fat pig, OK?”

By then, Pritzker had already been slimming down for two years. In September, he revealed he had lost about 80 pounds since spring 2024 on a GLP-1 medication prescribed after a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. “I think that it’s funny to me now that the president still calls me a fat slob,” he told the paper, adding that he wants to be around long enough to have grandchildren.

Trump, meanwhile, has been heading in the opposite direction. His May physical listed him at 238 pounds, up 14 from his April 2025 exam, and his doctor advised him to lose weight and exercise more. He even conceded at a September event honoring 9/11 first responders, “I’m big.” The White House still insists he’s in excellent health.

Online, plenty of people felt the governor landed the cleaner punch. “JB wins this round,” one X user wrote. Another praised the strategy: “Brilliant. Troll Trump. It’s the best way.”

A third person declared, “The BOSS doesn’t hold back punches,” while someone else simply cheered, “Lookin’ good, JB!” A few viewers were just as entertained by the people standing behind him. “Who is the queen behind him doing finger claps?” one asked.

This isn’t the first time Trump’s weight jokes have boomeranged. Critics have spent months questioning his official numbers, with one photo fueling fresh suspicions that his reported weight doesn’t match what the cameras show.

Country star Jelly Roll also roasted Trump’s weight while guest hosting “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in August, sarcastically assuring viewers the president “would never do that to other people” before the show rolled clips proving otherwise.

Trump will probably keep bringing up Pritzker, whether at rallies, ceremonies or on Truth Social. But every time he does now, the governor has a ready-made answer and 80 fewer pounds to back it up.
